Your parish council is the grassroots tier of local government.  Elections are taking place on 6th May and this is your opportunity to represent your community and make decisions which affect Gainford and Langton.

Parish and Town Council Elections will be taking place on Thursday 6th May 2021.  If you are interested in becoming a councillor and want to hear some inspiring stories about this role please look at the National Association of Local Councils Elections webpage.

To obtain a nomination form you have 3 options:

Enquiries about the process of standing including eligibility criteria, filling in the nomination form etc should be directed to Electoral Services, contact details as above.

You can find out contact details of your local parish council by checking our CDALC website Locate a Parish page and you can look at where they are on a map on the DCC website.   Most councils will have their own website where you can find out about their activities.

The following has also been advised from DCC,

“Government regulations have not changed meaning that all completed application forms must be returned in person by going to County Hall. Therefore, Nomination forms 1a, 1b and 1c MUST be delivered by hand. Other information for example certificates for use of political party logos etc can be submitted by post but it is advisable to hand deliver these too.

 Legislation states that any nomination papers received by post will not be accepted. If anyone does post in their nomination form then electoral services would contact them to ask them to hand deliver their nomination form. If they do not do so by the deadline date then their posted nomination form will not be considered.”
